Local, global impact of employee contributions honored
Arizona State University President Michael Crow honored staff and faculty members during the 2023 President’s Awards ceremony, held Dec. 7 in the Ventana Ballroom of the Memorial Union on the Tempe campus.
The annual event recognizes collaborative initiatives that have demonstrated excellence in advancing the university’s mission. The categories are: the President’s Award for Global Engagement, the President’s Award for Innovation, the President’s Medal for Social Embeddedness, the President’s Award for Sustainability and the President’s Award for Transdisciplinary Collaboration.
The awards provide the university an opportunity to celebrate the commitment and contributions of ASU employees.

For Prerna Rodney, she received all of this with her Master of Global Management (MGM) from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, ascending to many leadership roles within the school — and ended up meeting her husband Isaac through the program as well.

However, in an age of technological advancement that brings our species ever closer to that final frontier, none of the goals address space exploration.

Sanjeev Khagram, Dean of the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University (ASU), emphasized the importance of universities and academic institutions in helping design and support their region’s SDG strategy, as ASU is assisting the City of Phoenix in undertaking a review of its local progress on the SDGs.

Arizona State University has been recognized as a global leader in sustainability efforts, coming in second in the world and first in the U.S. in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings released Wednesday.
The annual international publication of university rankings looks at impacts made addressing 17 specific goals aimed at achieving a better world by 2030, known as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Adopted by all 193 United Nations member states in 2015, these goals provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
