The Master of Global Management (MGM), ranked No. 1 globally for international trade by the QS International Trade Rankings, equips graduates with the skills to lead diverse, cross-cultural teams in various sectors. This innovative program blends traditional business administration with Industry 4.0 skills, such as digital transformation, sustainability/ESG, diversity and inclusion, entrepreneurship, and innovation—empowering professionals to drive digital change and manage constant disruption.

In collaboration with the W. P. Carey School of Business, students can now pursue Thunderbird’s internationally recognized MGM, with concentrations in either global business or global digital transformation, alongside the first-of-its-kind Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business. This concurrent degree program prepares graduates with advanced AI and data analytics expertise for business applications, enabling them to thrive in the ever-changing global marketplace.

Students in the MS program in artificial intelligence in business develop technical AI and professional skills needed for success in the constantly evolving landscape of technology and business. These two programs blend a great experience for students across their practical applications skills of AI and global impact.

Graduates from this concurrent degree program are prepared to navigate and lead in the evolving digital landscape, making strategic decisions that leverage AI technologies for global business success. The dual degree program fosters a blend of technical expertise and global business acumen, essential for driving digital transformation in diverse, international contexts.

Concentration options

The Master of Global Management and Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Business offers two concentration options, Global Digital Transformation and Global Business.

Global Digital Transformation

The MGM concentration in Global Digital Transformation equips students with advanced AI and data analytics skills, tailored specifically for business applications, alongside comprehensive global management and leadership training.

Global Business

The MGM concentration in Global Business delivers cross-cultural, hands-on training in the nuances of global business, preparing students with the perfect balance of practical and people skills to inspire, influence and drive global success.

Credit hours

If students follow the proposed course schedule, they can graduate with both degrees in two years. Thunderbird’s MGM program is a 49-credit degree and the MS in AI in Business from W. P. Carey, is a 30-credit degree program. Instead of doing 79 credits for the two degrees, a student in this concurrent degree program could share 15 credits, resulting in only 64 credits for the two degrees.

The STEM advantage

Master of Global Management concentrations in Global Digital Transformation and Global Business are STEM-certified and meet special F-1 international student status requirements. This means that international students who graduate with an MGM with one of these concentrations qualify for a 24-month extension to their Optional Practical Training in the United States beyond the 12 months already provided to international students in non-STEM degrees.

Applied learning

The Thunderbird Global Challenge Lab (GCL) program is a capstone course at Thunderbird that engages a team of four to five Master of Global Management (MGM) candidates with a client in an advanced or emerging market. The team spends three weeks working on each project onsite with their client and one final week of debriefing on campus. Projects are tailored to the business needs of the client and provide sophisticated data and market analysis, strategy recommendations, and practical, effective plans for sustained growth. The Lab offers projects which are truly win-win propositions, creating value for companies and providing a unique, professional learning experience for our students.

Admission information

Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the Graduate College and for both graduate programs as they are listed in degree search/the academic catalog. If the admission requirements of the degrees are updated, new students will be required to follow the requirements based on the effective term.
