Mohan Guruswamy
Biography
Dr. Mohan Guruswamy has over two decades of experience in industry and academics. As an expert in Strategic Planning and Organizational Development, he has held positions of importance and authority in private and government agencies. He has been associated with Corporate as well as Academics on a continuous basis, resulting in perfect “synergy” between the two. As a practitioner and teacher, he possesses practical and conceptual knowledge.
Dr. Guruswamy worked for the General Secretariat of Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, UAE, as Advisor Strategy and Business Performance. The responsibilities primarily included advising the Council on long-term Strategic Planning for the entire Emirate, ensuring each Government entity has a 5-year plan. The role was that of a “change agent” bringing about Organizational Change at various levels.
Dr. Guruswamy was director of the LEAD Program. This was a Leadership Program offered by Judge Business School, Cambridge University in conjunction with Aldar, to develop future leaders of Abu Dhabi. Students were middle to senior-level executives working in various public and private sector organizations across Abu Dhabi. As such, he contributed to capability building of over 120 UAE nationals in 8 cohorts over 5 years. Many of the nationals are CEOs and heads of various large entities today across Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Guruswamy worked for Dubai Ports World, part of Ports, Free Zones, and Customs Corporation (PCFC) Dubai, as Head of Strategic Planning and Business Performance Management. Responsibilities included formulating, implementing, and evaluating/monitoring the progress of Ports, Free Zones, and Customs.
Dr. Guruswamy is a project leader for the Green Certification Scheme in association with Dubai Carbon (Unit of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority). He has conceptualized, designed, and launched a “Green Certification Scheme.” This scheme was developed through extensive research to certify organizations worldwide on green achievements in relevance to their design, construction, and operations – logistics, management, emission reduction, and transportation.
